Ashley Edwards Named BHS Assistant Principal
Brighton Central School District Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan has announced that Ashley Edwards, an Assistant Principal at Twelve Corners Middle School (TCMS), will be returning to her previous role as an Assistant Principal at Brighton High School (BHS). She replaces Jerbrel Bowens, who was recently named the District’s Director of Visual and Performing Arts and Student Pathways.
“Mrs. Edwards has been an outstanding leader in both buildings,” Dr. McGowan said. “She moved to TCMS two years ago to bring her BHS experience to a new setting, help meet an important need, and broaden her own leadership experience by working with middle school students. During her time at TCMS, she has made a tremendous impact by building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues while strengthening supports across the school.”
Mrs. Edwards will resume many of her previous responsibilities, including supporting students with last names P–Z, overseeing testing, and supervising the Social Studies, Technology, and Business departments.
“Mrs. Edwards returns to BHS with a proven track record and valuable new experiences,” BHS Principal Dr. Tom Hall said. “We are super excited about welcoming her as a BHS Assistant Principal. With Mrs. Edwards’s three previous years at BHS and two years at TCMS, she will hit the ground running.”
“Ashley has ensured that every student has access to the supports and opportunities they need to thrive,” TCMS Principal Dr. Danielle Edmunds added. “She has been an advocate for students while recruiting, developing, and supporting paraprofessionals and special education staff. Her leadership, expertise, and commitment to students and staff have made TCMS a better place.”
Mrs. Edwards joined Brighton High School in 2021 after serving as assistant principal at Fairport High School. Prior to becoming assistant principal, she taught social studies at Victor and Fairport high schools.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from SUNY Geneseo and a master’s degree in social studies education from Binghamton University. Mrs. Edwards completed her administrative certification in school leadership at the University of Rochester.
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve the TCMS community and for the students, families, faculty, and staff who welcomed me and helped me grow both professionally and personally,” Mrs. Edwards said. “One of the greatest privileges has been building relationships with students and families. As I return to BHS, I am excited to bring the experiences and lessons I gained at TCMS with me.”
Mrs. Edwards will transition to her role at Brighton High School this summer. The search process for a new assistant principal at Twelve Corners Middle School will begin shortly.
