What To Do If You Witness Online Hate

What to Do If You Witness Hate Online

1. Save Evidence: Take a screenshot if it’s safe and appropriate.

2. Block & Report: Use platform tools to block/report the account.

3. Tell a Trusted Adult: Reach out to a counselor, teacher, or administrator. Use the TCMS Digital Reporting Form

4. Use Upstander Skills: If safe, respond with empathy: “That comment was hurtful. Please don’t say that here.”

5. Don’t Stay Silent: Even witnessing hate can be harmful. Talking helps. You can use the Digital Behavior Reporting Form or talk to any staff member.
