Art education at the middle school plays a crucial role in improving students’ ability to learn. Students are encouraged to extend themselves to be successful in the making of art and the creative process. Creative activity is an essential aspect of human knowledge. Students will learn skills and concepts that require the use of the higher orders of thinking analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. Art draws on a range of intelligences and learning styles. Students will increase their insight, imagination and become more discerning for our visually oriented society. Middle school art is a source of joy and wonder.
Artwork is routinely displayed around the district in display cases, in the boardroom and at the District Wide Art Show held in May. Student art is also regularly submitted to regional contests and exhibits.
Students at TCMS take art in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades.
