Monday, April 20, 2026 is the last day to file petitions for three seats on the Brighton Board of Education. Three of our seven board seats are to be filled in an election on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The terms of current board members Carrielyn Bertino, Larry Davis, and Dr. Susan Gasparino are expiring this year. Mrs. Bertino and Dr. Gasparino have announced their intention to seek re-election.
            
In order to be eligible to run as a candidate for board member, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; a citizen of the United States; a resident of the Brighton School District for at least one year preceding the election; have a petition signed by at least 28 qualified school district voters; file the petition with the Board Clerk by 4 p.m. on April 20, 2026 and be prepared to serve out the elected term of three years. The seats will be filled in an election on May 19, 2026, the same day as the budget vote.
