Posted Date: 6/26/24 (7:59 AM)

Twelve Corners Middle School was re-designated as a New York State and National Essential Elements School to Watch for 2024. The award is given out every three years following a lengthy application process and school visit. This is the seventh consecutive time the middle school has been selected for this honor. There are only 47 middle schools that received this honor in 2024. This program’s goal is to develop, identify, honor, and nurture schools with middle level grades that are academically excellent, developmentally responsive, socially equitable and are organized and structured for continuous improvement, and are exemplars of the implementation of the National Forum's Schools to Watch program criteria.
The school held a celebration on June 14. Anna David performed the national anthem and the chorus performed. Principal Dr. Danielle Edmunds, Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan, and Carly Bird from Congressman Joe Morelle’s office all addressed the students. Lastly, representatives from Schools to Watch presented the new banner to Student Council representatives.

The recognition was possible thanks to the school’s students, staff, families, and community members.
