TCMS, BHS Urban-Suburban Students Recognized

Several Twelve Corners Middle School and Brighton High School students were recognized at the Urban-Suburban Program’s award ceremony on May 23 at Nazareth University. This was the first in-person ceremony since 2019. 

All members of the Class of 2024 were recognized. For Brighton High School, that includes seniors Reylon Day, Alexandria Hall, Kaden Retamar, Josiah Robinson, Nasir Smith, Reginald Smith, Samantha Som, and Dasani Williams.

Kaden Retamar is a recipient of an Urban-Suburban Scholarship Award. Alexandria Hall and Josiah Robinson are Urban League of Rochester Black Scholars.

Core 4 Awards were presented to students who maintained an average grade of 80-89% in the four core subjects: math, science, English, and social studies. The winners from Twelve Corners Middle School are: Eden Antonetti-Carter, Mhalia Baldwin, Na’Laiyah Brockington, Jeremiah Bush, Quincey Carver, Anna Chestnut, Saniyah Hucks, De’Mario Perry, Malia Weems, and Joseph Williams. The winners from Brighton High School are: TyMere Boose, Reylon Day, Muriel Gastel, Efrain Gonzalez, Sianna Ho, Aleigha Lenear, Kaleb Matthews, Kaden Retamar, Josiah Robinson, Ty’Asia Simmons, and Ahnasti Tate.

Academic Achievement Awards were presented to students who maintained an average grade of 90-94% for the four core subjects. The winners from Twelve Corners Middle School are: Sokanita Nou and Maison Wagstaff. The winners from Brighton High School are: Mohammed Ghassat, Alexandria Hall, and Jamyla Lewis.

Academic Excellence Awards were presented to students who maintained an average grade of 95% or higher in the four core subjects. The winners from Twelve Corners Middle School are: Kadyn Buckner, Natalie Gastel, Soriyareach Nou, Adeline Smith, and Isabella Williams.

The Principal’s Award is presented to students who participate with students, faculty, and staff in an effort to reduce minority group isolation; work to the best of their ability to achieve academic excellence; and demonstrate they are a responsible citizen. For Twelve Corners Middle School, the winner is Kadyn Buckner. For Brighton High School, the winner is Kaden Retamar.

Brighton High School counselor Holly Juliano received a Slugger Award. The award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering dedication and commitment to the students, parents, administrators, school faculty, and staff of the Urban-Suburban Program.
